Fountaine Pajot Orana 44 “Midi” – Midi’s Meanderings Part Six for 2012

Posted: 27th July 2012.

Dobar dan everyone,

So many places, so little time to type on the computer. Actually it is so hard to remember where we have been as some of the place names appear incomprehensible to us. We have developed our own shorthand for names until we know the correct pronunciation. Rogoznica became ‘Roger’s knickers’ , Ugljan became ‘Ugly Jan’ (sorry Jan), Losinj – lozenge, Susak – Susan, Rovinj – revenge (apologies Alison – we should have had lessons off you before we came). Lots of names have so many consonants and a lack of vowels.

To get to the Krka National Park which we had heard a lot about, we entered the Kanal Sv. Ante and spent the first night tied stern-to, to the side of the river bank. The next place of note was Sibenik, where we tied up to the town wall for a few hours to do some shopping and got charged 160 kuna for the honour but the chap that took our money was a bit of a hard case so we did not mind too much. He also took our two small gas bottles (2.75kgseach) and had them filled.

Then it was off to Prukjansko Jezero, which was a huge bulge in the river, almost like a lake within the river. Had fun feeding swans off the deck and then it was on up the river to Skradin, on the way passing under a bridge as a young lady bungy jumped off over the top of us. Caused a bit of excitement to the men on board as they realised she was topless!
