Off the back of a brilliant Sydney International Boat Show, Mark Elkington at Multihull Solutions reveals what’s driving the trends in multihull sales.

At the recent 2014 Sydney International Boat Show, Multihull Solutions recorded four unconditional catamaran sales and three conditional contracts, enjoying consistently strong sales across their brands.

“Buyer confidence is very strong at the moment, and catamarans are certainly becoming the choice for those who want to cruise with family and friends around Australia, Pacific or further afield,” said managing director, Mark Elkington, adding that he has noted solid interest across the range from entry-level cruising catamarans that to high-end custom and high-performance models.

“Power catamarans are taking some market share from the traditional monohull powerboat market. We are taking a new order every six weeks, which is a big change from a few years ago where the market was only two sales per year.”

Ex-factory pickup options are also increasing in popularity as buyers are recognising the cost savings and the lifestyle opportunities this option affords.
